On the 1st and 2nd of September the TY group of 2016/2017 took a trip to Newgrange Lodge. The trip was to act as a bonding and induction to all of us TY students.
On arrival at Newgrange Lodge we were split into groups that divided us from our whole friend group. We were in a group of mainly people who we weren't extremely friendly with therefore it really forced us to talk to other people. Our group done kayaking to begin with. I found this to be very beneficial as it was a great icebreaker and it made you feel comfortable around the group of people that we were with. The afternoon activities consisted of team bonding and team trust games. These games really helped me to trust and feel more relaxed with TY students.
Our Induction trip was an overnight stay. The following day, the 2nd, was spent doing team boning excerises including orienteering, survival skills that taught us to light a fire with only a select few raw materials.
I feel that the TY Induction Trip to Newgrange Lodge was extremely beneficial and fun. I am looking forward to future trips that will occur during TY.
