On the 21st of September we went to the ploughing championships in Stradbally Co. Laois. at 7:00 pm that morning we left the school and began our journey, we reached the ploughing championships at 9:00 am. Throughout the day I spent my time doing different things, I began by walking through the stalls and looking at all the old crafts that were in Ireland like the tin smith and the thatcher. In particular I liked the handmade clothes as they looked really good.I was walking around the festival and tractors and animals was on display as far as the eye could see. There as many different animals like cows, sheep, chickens, goats and pigs too. As well as animals there was a large number of advertising boards which advertised various smaller bands as well as big country singers,
There was loads of contests to be watched at the ploughing such as sheering the sheep this contest had a large number of people competing against each other and the fastest time won.
There was a carnival at the ploughing and I went on nearly every ride there was there, these rides added to the experience I had at the ploughing overall I felt the ploughing was a worthwhile and valuable experience for me as it showed us some of the old crafts as well as providing us with a bit of modern day entertainment I would highly recommend the festival to anyone who wanted to go in the future.
