Bright and early on the 21st of September both TY classes headed for Tullamore, Co. Offaly in order to attend the National Ploughing Championships. Hundreds of thousand of people were in attendance and the event was thronged with visitors from all over Ireland.
We all had to stay together in at least groups of three and were free to wander around and take in all the event had to offer. Hundreds of different stalls had been set up in order to showcase all that the agricultural industry had to offer. Food was also a big part of the event and there was even a field solely dedicated to food stalls, serving everything from fish and chips to frozen yoghurt.
As the day progressed, the weather regressed. What had started out as a sunny, cool day had now turned into a dull array of clouds but that didn't dampen our spirits.
As we headed back to the bus to be there for 2 o' clock the clouds gave way and the rain began to pour. After searching and getting lost quite a bit we made it back to the bus with five minutes to spare.
All in all it was a fantastic day and I would not hesitate to return to the National Ploughing Championships again.
