On the 21st of September on Wednesday our class had a trip to Tullamore, Co. Offaly to see the ploughing. We had to be in the bus at 7 in the morning to get there by 9.
A lot of other schools, mostly TY students from all over Ireland travelled a long journey to get there too. When we all got there and entered the ploughing, we knew it would not be easy to find our way out.
As we entered, machinery and tractors could be found on the left hand side and business markets on the right. Our group decided to walk straight ahead along the pathway until we got to the information centre which was located in the very centre of the ploughing.
Near the end of the ploughing place there were sponsors of the ploughing that gave out different food samples (if it was a food store sponsor), gave out pens or made up good games for everyone to try out.
When we had an hour left we decided to go to the funfair which was on the ploughing site. The funfair was one of the best things at the ploughing but the lines to buy tickets were massive and the tickets were not cheap.
We had to be at the bus by 10 to 2. The best thing about the ploughing was that I didn’t have to spend any money (except the funfair) and I came out with 4 pens, 4 visable vests, Lidl crisps, water and chocolate bar, our group photo and Aldi cowboy hats. I didn’t like the way it was not clearly shown where the exit to the buses is as it took me and my group about 20 minutes to find our way out.
I really enjoyed the school tour as I think it was an ideal educational place to go to where we could look at how different businesses work and compare some prices between products.
