The next block of work experience takes place the 1st-5th of February 2016.
"For my work experience, I went to TullyLagan Hotel in Co Tyrone. My experience was very good. I learned a lot about working with other people. Going into my work experience, I honestly thought I would be doing a lot of work on my own on little jobs but instead the whole staff worked together as a team, especially as there was two weddings taking place! I really enjoyed it and I would definitely do it agai. I met a lot of lovely people as well who were nice and helped me throughout the week." - Aine Fitzsimons
"Working in a vets was great fun and I learned a lot of new skill. It is definitely a future career for me" - Rebecca Hand. "It was a great experience but Primary Teaching is not for me" - Laura Crahan "I did my week of Work Experience in St Pauls Primary School. I worked with Junior Infants for the week. I really enjoyed it and after the experience, I realise that I may consider Primary Teaching as a career option as I have a keen interest in it." - Ailbhe Leahy "For my work experience, I was in a nursing home. I learned how to be more confident talking to people in front of others and to people that I don't know." - Mollie Feeley "For my work experience, I went back to my old Primary School in Wilkinstown National School (Scoil Naomh Barra) It was really good to be back. Each day I was in a different class." - Chloe McKeever "I was in Newtown National School. I loved it there. The children and the teachers were adorable. I think I would like to work with children maybe as a S.N.A. I didn't feel like I was in a school, but at home." - Leah Mullen "I did my work experience in a Primary School. It was brilliant. I loved being back although it was strange on the first day! Even though I loved it and I love working with children, I'm not sure if I can see myself teaching in a primary school anymore!" - Anna Mennis "I did my work experience in Haven's Pharmacy in Navan Shopping Centre. It was really good. I enjoyed every bit of it. I would love to work as a chemist when I leave school." - Sinead Finnegan "Work experience was very interesting. I did my work experience in a Vets. Everyone was really friendly. I got to see all the different operations. I got to wash the surgical kits, clean cages and help to hold the animals. I learnt how to hold an animal properly in case they might bite you. I thought the most interesting thing that I got to do was to inject a dog. I really enjoyed my work experience and I would consider a career in the Veterinary field" - Katie Corduff "For my work experience, I worked in Henkel Ireland which is a glue production plant. I worked in various different labs, I learned how glue is made and what different jobs people had to do in the plant. In the labs, I measured out chemicals using an electric balanced, checked to see how much water and acid was in some samples of glue, labelled different equipment. I found the melting point of glue and measured the thickness of packaging using callipers. I chose Henkel as my work placement because I wanted to see what it was like to work in a lab and I would recommend it to people who are interested in Science." - Ciara Mullen "I did my work experience at the Meath Chronicle in Navan. I wrote and typed some stories for the newspaper. It was very enjoyable." - Eleanor Maloney "I really enjoyed work experience. During my week there I learnt how to prepare people for colours and cuts. I also made tea and coffee, cleaned the bathroom and store room. I organised all of the dyes. The staff were helpful and friendly." - Aine Bellew "I thought work experience was excellent. It really helped me open my eyes to see what's available and what I'm interested in. It was a good experience, it gave me a deep insight into what the working community is like. For my work experience I went to Dublin Fire Brigade. I was listening to 999 calls and travelling around Dublin in a fire engine. It was a great experience" - Blathnaid Rock "On my first week of work experience, I worked in Balreask Montessori School from the 16th - 20th of November and I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to go back to school the following Monday!" - Emily Woods "For my 1st week of work experience, I went to the River Spa at the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim. I found it to be quite boring as I was placed in the office doing administration work on the computer. I started at 10am and finished at 2pm. I didn't really enjoy it as I didn't learn much except that I don't want to work in a spa." - Elaine Hubble "I chose to go to a Veterinary clinic for my first week experience in November.
