Starting a new school year can be a nerve racking and worrying time for some people. You may be worried about making new friends, getting on with your peers or even just fitting in. I personally felt a bit anxious at first, but after going on a bonding trip with the other TY students I felt a whole lot better.
We went to Newgrange Lodge as our induction trip. We departed for our trip on the 1st September and would stay there overnight until the 2nd of September. There, we participated in many activities including kayaking, rock climbing, paintball shooting, grass sledging and survival. In addition to that we took part in team building games and activities which I felt was the most beneficial part of the trip as we got to know each other better and bonded in a fun and enjoyable way.
Additionally I felt that bonding with the other students in our bedrooms was greatly beneficial as got to know each other further and had great fun. We had a movie night where we all got to relax and enjoy a film together as one big class
Overall I gained so much confidence after participating in the trip. I made new friends, developed new skills and it made me feel a whole lot better about beginning transition year. Predominantly, it was a terrific way to kick off the new school year.
