On Wednesday, the 21stof September at 7 am all 50 of us TYs left the school to take the 1 hour 25 minute bus journey to Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. On arrival, we noticed that there were so many buses. Wednesday was forecasted to be the busiest day throughout the ploughing and that was the truth. At 8:30 am the place was busy enough. We walked around the stalls for a while and eventually we found the carnival and food stalls. This is where we spent the majority of our day. There was a football match between tractors at around 12 also. The food was delicious (especially the crepes!) and the Papa Johns. The carnival was quite good aswell. We also went into the 3 sports shops TheGAAStore, O’Neills and Elverys. I strongly recommend visiting these shops early as by the time we found them all the good sizes were gone so we couldn’t buy anything. When it was time to leave, the crowds were getting unbelievably big and it was hard to walk around so getting there at half eight was a good thing even though it mightn’t have seemed so at the time. All in all I had a great time and would definitely recommend it to another TY group! by Kate McCarthy | |
