On the 1st of September our TY classes went on a bonding trip to Newgrange Lodge. When we got there we were introduced to our leaders and separated into 3 groups. First, we did an assault course and then rock climbing. There were three sections for rock climbing, three different colours and a different levels of difficulty. After that, we were given wet suits and had to change into them and go on a bus to Dunmore canal for kayaking, we listened to music on the way up and everyone was very excited. When we arrived we all got a helmet and a life jacket. We had to find a partner to get into the canoe with, I chose Erin. Our instructor thought us the basic technique and we played a few games that involved standing on the canoe, it was very funny. Shortly after our instructor told us to link arms and interlock our hands, we were in a long line, he then pushed the very first person so we all went down together, it was like a domino effect. This was my favourite part of the trip as we all laughed together and enjoyed each other’s company. We then showered and ate dinner together, after we went to our rooms and talked. The next morning we had to wake up at 7:30 to get breakfast. We had cereal and a pancake. We then done orienteering and a few bonding games. We took a few pictures and talked to our instructors. At 3 o’clock it was time to go home, everybody there was so nice and very easy to talk to. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of new friends, the experience made me open up to new people and get out of my comfort zone and I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to do it.
