Maths in Transition Year is quite different to Maths in the exam years. This year is a year, where we get to improve our maths skills and focus on the areas which we struggled with during the exam years. It is also a stress-free year for maths as not only do we do maths, we also do projects.
One of the projects we have been working on, was a project on how maths is used in particular careers. This was a beneficial project as it helped us become aware of how we would use maths in our future career choices.
As Transition Year is meant to be a stress-free year, this project we have done is going towards our portfolio's, which will also represent our result for Christmas. A new thing that we have started in Maths, is using a website called "Build-Up". This is a website which has been created by Folens to get us using Maths in a friendly environment, as sometimes it is easier to learn outside of the classroom. The website is designed to help us improve our maths in the areas that we are struggling with. It assigns a number of six questions to us at a time. The more questions that we answer, the more the website understands what level of Maths that we are at. It is great as if you are really good at maths, the website will assign your level and challenge you. All in all, Transition Year is a great year to improve on any weaknesses that we might have in Maths. When we come back after Christmas, we will be doing a group project where we will be creating our own game.
